Savage B17 Precision Bolt Action Rifle - 17HMR
U.S. manufacturer SAVAGE is known for having an extensive catalog of rifles in 17 HMR caliber. The Savage B-series guns offer exceptional performance and with the new Precision series they go to a new level, bringing more possibilities in precision shooting with ring-fire calibers.
The Savage B17 Precision in 17HMR caliber features a heavy carbon steel barrel, 457 mm (18) long, manufactured using the button rifling technique, of which SAVAGE is a true specialist. The barrel is threaded at the end with a thread cover, and the thread pitch is ½ - 28.
The most striking element of this Savage B17 Precision rifle is the aluminum chassis on which it is mounted. This is the result of a collaboration with a third party, specifically with the prestigious Canadian company Modular Driven Technologies (MDT). Its main advantage is the contribution of rigidity to the assembly, which obviously translates into improved precision. All this without the weight of the assembly exceeding too much, since it weighs only 3.4 kg, a good figure for a precision rifle that mounts a heavy barrel.
The stock allows several customization options, on the one hand, you can vary its length by adding or removing the supplied spacers. On the other hand, the cheekpiece height can also be adjusted by means of two Allen head screws. This makes it easy to adapt to the morphology of any type of owner. The polymer and rubber pistol grip is also made by MDT and has a material enhancement on both sides to accommodate both right-handed and left-handed shooters.
The handguard has numerous perforations that follow the MLOK pattern. As for the magazine, it is a removable, 10-round rotary magazine. It comes standard with a one-piece Picatinny rail mounted on the action.
The action is simple, with a bolt that is a little less than 90°, it has a single rear locking lug, which locks the action behind the shaft and the freely rotating bolt head. As in the rest of the SAVAGE range of rifles the link between the barrel and the action is made by a nut, which provides a precise headspace.
Another element responsible for its good accuracy is its trigger system. It is called AccuTrigger, which appeared in 2002 for SAVAGE rifles. This is characterized by its ultra-short travel and break as a glass rod, clean and consistent. It has an integrated trigger safety called AccuRelease, like modern polymer pistols, making its behavior simulate a two-stroke trigger. It is user-customizable in weight from 1.5 lbs (0.68 kg) to 5 lbs (2.27 kg).
The B17 models complement the AccuRelease with a safety located behind the action, with a two-position sliding knob. This provides ambidextrous access to the safety, visually revealing a red dot when in fire condition.

It is no secret to anyone who handles a firearm that dirt can be its worst enemy. Corrosion or the storage of foreign matter can hinder the operation of the weapon and, in the case of affecting the cartridges, cause accidents that can have serious consequences.

When the word Rifle is used, anyone, including a non-expert, evokes a classic Mauser bolt-action rifle of military type. We could say that it is the current rifle par excellence, it is the most used in any hunting modality, the most universal for its variety of calibers, weights, sizes, finishes, applications, manufacturers and prices.
It is a repeating rifle, that is to say a rifle that allows repeating the shot whose action consists of a bolt that, manually operated by a rotation and thrust movement, captures the cartridge from the magazine and introduces it into the chamber "locking it" (closing it), arms the punch or needle, to subsequently allow the shot to be fired.
The mechanism of the bolt can be variable, currently there are bolts with axial action without apparent rotation. The ammunition magazine admits a variable number of cartridges, usually 5 for non-Magnum calibers and 3 or 4 for the latter. Some models allow the use of a detachable magazine.
Repetition should never be confused with automatism.
They are the most accurate rifles and the simplest to build.
In some models, barrels of different caliber can be interchanged, in which case the long action group (Magnum calibers) and the short action group (Magnum calibers) are compatible.
Advantages
- It is the most robust and reliable of all
- High ballistic accuracy (unmatched by other repeating systems)
- The extraction and reloading mechanisms provide total operational safety
- It is slow firing, making it difficult to shoot quickly and fluently
- It is too large for long days of hunting on foot
- The manual action of the bolt unholsters the weapon at each shot, which forces the hunter to retake the aiming elements and means a loss of time that can be crucial in the second shot
- BIG HUNTING RIFLE
Para the purchase of a rifle requires a copy of the ID card and LONG GUN RIFLE PERMIT (D).
