Mannlicher SBS bolt (Safe Bolt System)
The SBS bolt developed and patented by STEYR MANNLICHER is the safest bolt concept in the world. In case of firing an overpressure cartridge or if there is an obstruction in the barrel, the user is always protected from possible physical damage that could be caused by gas leakage or mechanical breakage.

Waste grooves:
Special grooves made in the bolt body ensure reliable locking even in extreme icy or muddy conditions.
Striker pin:
At the rear of the bolt, the rear of the firing pin protrudes when the weapon is mounted, providing visual and tactile control of the weapon's status.
Bolt catch:
The SBS bolt lugs by design are extremely strong and close directly behind the cartridge butt on the frame.
Bolt Handle:
The bolt handle can be folded and locked over the mechanism drawer.
Safety bushing:
Only the SBS system uses an additional safety bushing that fully encapsulates the lugs and extractor. Consequently the user is fully protected against any escape of gases with overpressure cartridges that may be inadvertently fired.
Triple safety locking system.

• Safety position. The rifle can be loaded and unloaded, however the trigger remains locked.
• Firing position. At the moment before firing, the wheel is rotated forward to the firing position, until marked with a red dot.
• Bolt locking position. The bolt handle is folded over the frame and the firing pin is locked. On hair triggers, the firing pin is automatically deactivated in this position.
